These heavy-duty offset shears allow you to see the metal as you're cutting, whether you use them right-handed or left-handed and whether you're cutting to the right or the left. These sturdy shears can handle soft metal up to 16 gauge and stainless steel up to 20 gauge. Shears operate like scissors, with blades that smoothly bypass one another as they cut, but have a more robust construction ideal for cutting sheet.• The compound joint offers two pivot points and keeps the jaw edges parallel to each other as they open and close, creating even pressure and delivering a clean cut. The jaws remain open until the handles are squeezed closed; a simple hook closure on the inside of the handles keeps the tool closed for safe storage and transport.• These shears have handles made of molded plastic, with safety guards to prevent slipping.• A built-in safety latch slides in place to hold the shears closed whenever they are not in use for safe storage and transport.
