Bonny Doon Square 60-Durometer Urethane

Urethanes are a critical accessory item for use with the Bonny Doon press. Each urethane is specifically shaped and formulated for increased cut-resistance and memory retention. Used properly, a single urethane can easily last 10 years or longer. Its purpose is to provide the matching half of the form that you create in your press; it forces the metal into every crevice of the die, precisely conforming to the design. To ensure good results and to prevent damage to the urethane, choose a piece that is thicker than the design. Designs should no more than 2/3 of the thickness of the urethane you use.

This 60-durometer urethane fits the 6" square form box and is used to create deep-volume forms by concentrating the urethane force inside the container.

Form boxes allow you to create forms with much deeper volumes than are possible on the open platen. Create larger, deeper-volume forms by concentrating the urethane forces inside the containers using your hydraulic press. Urethane intensifiers (an uncut sheet is included) are used to build up the form in desired areas. By providing a firm supporting wall, a very soft urethane (60d) can be used to make very deep vessels.

This kit includes the form box, a pusher, several different urethanes and a bottle of BurLife® liquid lubricant.
