Specialty Burs

These burs are made for specialty use. Here are some of the burs and their uses:

  • Krause (reamer) bur - made to get into tight spaces, good for enlarging and tapering hinge pin holes, repositioning drilled holes, removing excess solder from joints, and fine-tuning openings in box clasps and other mechanisms.
  • Pavé-cut bur - a specialized bur used in pavé settings to refine the bearing geometry.
  • Three-square bur - a specialized bur used to refine micro geometry inside tight spaces -  reducing corner radius and shaping small angular surfaces before final graver finishing in pavé and channel setting.
  • Egg bur - a specialized bur made for smoothing and modern organic shaping.
  • Oval bur - made to contour surface areas and blend shallow shapes.
  • Pear bur - made for shaping, hollowing, and refining internal contours.
  • Point bur - a sharply tapered bur used for piercing, starting holes, and reaching into extremely tight spots.
  • Bullet bur - made for shaping internal slopes and opening cavities.
  • Crown saw - the cutting edge of this bur is equivalent to that of a saw blade. Made for cross-wise cuts, removing sprues, and trimming tubing.
