The hart bur is the most commonly used bur in stone setting. Available in 45˚, 70˚, 90˚, and 120˚ profiles, it is made for cutting seats in prongs, for channel and flush settings, or as an alternative to flywheels for bright-cutting. Manufacturers can vary in how they measure and state the angle of the bur: they may state the angle of the side profile, or the angle at the tip.
