Baldor Continuous-Duty 5/8" Straight-Shaft Polishing Motor, 1/2hp

Polishing motors make quick work of grinding, shaping and polishing tasks, and they accommodate a wide range of accessories that make these tasks easier. The unique, slightly tapered shafts on this Baldor dual tapered-shaft motor run true, eliminating the annoying buff wobble sometimes experienced with conventional shafts. Tapered-shaft Baldor motors are unique; the slight taper on the shaft holds true, eliminating the wobble that can occur with conventional shafts. The taper serves to accommodate the slight hole size variations common to hubs, buffs, wheels and spindles. Specially designed Baldor 5/8" tapered spindles with tapered interior machining (available separately) are made to fit onto the tapered shafts of this motor, further ensuring that accessories run with little to no wobble or vibration. Because the shaft on this motor features threading at its base, it will also accept straight-shaft spindles, provided their interiors are threaded. The base of this motor offers positioning holes that allow you to permanently fix the motor to your work surface. To help collect and recycle precious-metal debris generated by your work processes, we recommend using a hood and dust collection system with this (or any) polishing motor.
