This large Fretz® Silversmith embossing hammer features two domed faces that are ideal for shaping small sculptures and hollowware. Embossing hammers have a long head with smaller, round domed faces, ideal for working metal from the back or inside to create raised, three-dimensional forms, a technique also known as repoussé. This hammer produces dramatic texturing on flat or curved metal and is ideal for doming or stretching metal. Silversmith hammers are jeweler's hammers, sized up for use with heavier metal gauges, hollowware and other larger pieces.

Designed by master metalsmith Bill Fretz, this hammer is built for toughness and durability, and delivers all the features of a Fretz® hammer. The face size, head as well as the weight, length and pistol-grip end of the handle are all designed to Fretz’s specifications for balance, control and precision. The handle is made of Padauk wood, known for its strength, stability and beauty, and is oil-finished; it's specially shaped to give you a light touch, and the thin neck flexes slightly as you hammer for ultimate comfort. Head is cast from 420-grade stainless steel and tool hardened to 50 HRC for maximum durability and effectiveness.
