This Glardon Vallorbe® micro bent pillar file is designed to be used with your micro-motor or flexshaft with lapping action in a hammer handpiece (1/8" shank) and is ideal for working efficiently in small, detailed, hard-to-reach places; its useful for filing in linear movements. If desired, the file can also be used by hand. The cutting surface of this file tapers slightly across its width and thickness. The flat sides are double-cut and the edges are single-cut.This file has a Swiss cut #4; Swiss-cut files are graded by the number of teeth, counting teeth perpendicular to the long axis of the file. In all cut styles, the higher the number, the finer its cut.A double-cut file features two sets of evenly spaced teeth set in two directions, one at a slightly different angle than the other. Double-cut files are designed to cut more aggressively, maximizing the work of each stroke to remove more metal with fewer strokes. A single-cut (cross-cut) file features evenly spaced rows of teeth that all cut in the same direction, from the end or point of the file toward the tang or handle of the file (the forward stroke).The first choice for most jewelers, Glardon Vallorbe® files are manufactured to the highest production standards, made in Switzerland of the finest heat-tempered chrome-alloy steel, hardened to 65 HRC.
