This Fretz® planishing hammer is designed specifically for large-scale work, featuring larger heads than are found on most planishing hammers, and a cut underside for improved visibility of your work. Planishing hammers feature one round, flat face and one round, slightly domed face; these faces are polished to a mirror shine, ideal for refining the surfaces of jewelry and hollowware designs and for finishing work, smoothing and removing tool marks left by previous finishing steps.

Created by Bill Fretz from a design by renowned metalsmith Michael Good, this jeweler’s hammer is built for toughness and durability. The oil-finished handle is made of Padauk wood, known for its strength, stability and beauty. It's specially shaped to give you a light touch, and the thin neck flexes slightly as you hammer for ultimate comfort. The head is cast from 420-grade stainless steel and tool hardened to 50 HRC for maximum durability and effectiveness.
