Fretz® HMR-109 Silversmith Large Rounded Wide Raising Hammer, 4.2 oz.

This Fretz® Silversmith wide rounded raising hammer has a broad, rounded cross-peen face that works well for creating concave shapes in metal, and a wide domed face that is great for larger jewelry projects where a heavier hammer is needed to form metal into a concave block of wood or a sandbag. The rounded edges will leave subtle shimmering hammer marks in the metal. This hammer is also a good choice for planishing deep concave surfaces, such as in a concave bracelet: the face does not have any edges to catch the metal, and the long head allows a good reach for deep concave forming. Silversmith hammers are sized-up jeweler's hammers, and have larger heads that are ideal for use with heavier metal gauges, small sculptures and hollowware.

Designed by master metalsmith Bill Fretz, this hammer is built for toughness and durability, and delivers all the features of a Fretz® hammer. The face size, head as well as the weight, length and pistol-grip end of the handle are all designed to Fretz’s specifications for balance, control and precision. The oil-finished handle is made of Padauk wood, known for its strength, stability and beauty; it's specially shaped to give you a light touch, and the thin neck flexes slightly as you hammer for ultimate comfort. The head is cast from 420-grade stainless steel and tool hardened to 50 HRC for maximum durability and effectiveness.
